Good Food Month couldn’t think of a better way to kick off Melbourne Good Food Month than with Flower Drum x Neil Perry.
We wanted to go big – so we asked the country’s most hatted chef (149 at last count), Neil Perry, to collaborate with Melbourne’s culinary institution, Flower Drum for something truly exclusive.
Neil has curated a one-off special menu filled with his favourite Flower Drum dishes – some of which are on the menu and some of which are the secret off-menu dishes made especially for Neil when he visits.
Neil Perry is a chef who has built a culinary empire on his ability to craft faultless dishes – by both showcasing the best of Australian produce and by perfecting the balance and harmony of Asian cooking (coincidentally, this is the name of the book he authored on the subject).
He’s a master, and with a career spanning 40 years (and still going strong), Perry has earned more Good Food Guide chef’s hats than any other chef in the game.
That’s why we’re so excited that not only will Neil be curating your menu, he’ll also be preparing tasting dishes for you to devour.
Flower Drum has been an indomitable flavour-force in Melbourne since 1975 thanks to Executive Chef Anthony Lui‘s flawless Cantonese kitchen. Owner Gilbert Lau opened Flower Drum with a humble desire to serve good Cantonese food in a market dominated by European cuisines – some 43 years later, his relentless ambition to serve amazing, award-winning food has made Flower Drum one of the most celebrated kitchen’s in Australia.
For Flower Drum’s die-hard fans, and for those looking to experience it for the first (or second) time, Flower Drum x Neil Perry is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the very best of the country’s foremost culinary talent.
This special evening also includes a Q&A with Neil as well as multiple courses served with wine and beer. Oh, and for those curious about the secret off-menu dish Neil orders at Flower Drum… it’s the ‘Neil Perry mud crab noodles’ and yes, this is on the menu for Good Food Month’s Flower Drum x Neil Perry…
